Once you have completed the assessments, the hiring agency will notify you by email about your eligibility and referral status. Your USA Hire assessments may factor into these statuses.
- If your assessment has a cut score, you must meet or exceed it to be eligible for further consideration. If you do not meet the cut score, then you will be ineligible for further consideration. If you meet the cut score, you may or may not be referred to the next step of the agency's hiring process. Whether or not you are referred depend on several factors. Your performance on the assessment is one of those factors. The hiring agency will notify you about your eligibility to move forward in the hiring process.
- If your assessment doesn't have a cut score, you are eligible for further consideration for the position. You may or may not be referred to the next step of the agency's hiring process. Referral depends on several factors. Assessment performance is one of those factors. The hiring agency will inform you about your referral status and if you moved forward in the hiring process.

Important Being eligible for one position and grade doesn't mean you will meet the cut score for another position or grade. Meeting the requirements for one job announcement doesn't guarantee a referral for another job announcement. |
What's a cut score?
A cut score is the minimum score that must be obtained on an assessment to be eligible to proceed in the hiring process.
The job announcement's "How You Will Be Evaluated" section will typically indicate if the assessment has a cut score.
Can I request the score of my assessment?
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) does not provide cut score (e.g., pass/fail) or individual assessment results (e.g., scores), in accordance with 5 C.F.R. § 300.201(a). This could affect the fairness and objectivity of the testing process. Therefore, the OPM USA Hire Help Desk cannot provide individual score results to applicants.
The hiring agency you applied to may or may not share scoring or rating information based on their policies.
