Assessments are administered through the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) USA Hire assessment delivery platform.
Requirement
USA Hire supports the current releases of:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari
- Microsoft Edge
Follow the instructions below to check and make sure your browser is up to date with the current release.
Google Chrome
- Select the Customize and control button to reveal a menu of options. This button is located in the top-right corner of the Chrome window (it looks like three little black dots on top of each other).
- Within the options menu, hover your mouse over the Help menu item to reveal a new sub-menu of options.
- Select About Google Chrome to be taken to the About page for Chrome.
- Chrome will automatically check for updates.
- If your browser is up to date, Chrome will tell you “Google Chrome is up to date.”
- If Chrome finds updates, it will automatically download and install them. Once this is done, you'll need to select the Relaunch button to finish this process. Selecting it will restart Chrome and your browser will be up to date.
- If your browser is up to date, Chrome will tell you “Google Chrome is up to date.”
Mozilla Firefox
- Select the Menu button within the Firefox browser. This button will be in the top right-hand corner of the Firefox window (it will look like three horizontal lines on top of each other).
- Within the options menu, select Options (Note: On macOS it is called Preferences) item to be taken to the options page for Firefox.
- Scroll down to the Firefox Updates section.
- Select the Check for Updates button. Firefox will check for updates.
- If your browser is up to date, it will tell you “Firefox is up to date.”
- If a newer version is found, it will download and prepare itself to be installed. After it’s installed, you will be asked to restart Firefox to finish the update by selecting the Restart to update Firefox button and your Firefox browser will be up to date.
- If your browser is up to date, it will tell you “Firefox is up to date.”
Apple Safari
- Select the Apple Menu icon button within the Safari browser. This button will be in the top left-hand corner of the Safari window (it will look like the Apple logo/icon).
- Within the options menu, choose App Store… item to be taken to the App Store application.
- Select the Updates tab (or button) along the top of the App Store window.
- On this screen, the App Store will show you all of the updates which are available to you. It will bundle all the system applications (e.g., iTunes, Safari, etc.) which require updates into one main Software Update item.
- Within the Software Update item, select the blue More hyperlink and this will expand the software update item into all its individual system applications (e.g., iTunes, Safari, etc.).
- Search for the Safari item
- If your browser is up to date, Safari will appear within the list of available Software Updates and it is up to date.
- If a newer version is found, it will display Safari as an option to update and provide an Update button. After selecting the Update button, the newest version of Safari will update. After the update completes, Safari should display in the Updates installed in the Last 30 days section of the App Store Updates area.
- If your browser is up to date, Safari will appear within the list of available Software Updates and it is up to date.
Microsoft Edge
- Select the Settings and more button within the Edge browser. This button will be in the top right-hand corner of the Edge window (it will look like three small dots next to each other).
- Within the options menu, hover over the Help and Feedback item to reveal a new sub-menu of options.
- Select About Microsoft Edge to be taken to the About page for Edge.
- Edge will automatically check for updates.
- If your browser is up to date, Edge will tell you “Microsoft Edge is up to date.”
- If Edge finds updates, it will automatically download and install them. Once this is done, you will need to select the Restart button to finish this process. Selecting it will restart Edge and your browser will be up to date.
- If your browser is up to date, Edge will tell you “Microsoft Edge is up to date.”
